汽車矽膠管是輸送氣體、液體、槳狀或顆粒狀物料的一類矽橡膠製品,由內外膠層和骨架層組成,骨架層材料可用棉纖維、各種合成纖維、碳纖維或石棉、鋼絲等。一般汽車矽膠管的內外層材料為天蘭橡膠、丁苯橡膠或順丁橡膠,耐油軟管為氯丁橡膠、橡膠、耐酸鹼,耐高溫交通管為乙丙橡膠、氟橡膠或矽橡膠。由於其易彎曲、緩衝、重量輕、安裝使用方便等優點,許多機械設備中的液壓系統、氣動系統、燃油系統都大量使用矽膠管。

汽車矽膠管橡膠層直接承受輸送介質的磨損和侵蝕,並防止其洩漏,外層橡膠層保護骨架層免受外界損傷和侵蝕,骨架層是軟管的承壓層,賦予管體強度和剛度。工作壓力取決於骨架層的材料和結構。按骨架層材料結構可分為全膠管(無織物材料)、夾布膠管(骨架層為布層)、吸水膠管(布層外面有一層金屬螺旋)、編織膠管(骨架層為編織鋼絲或織物)、纏繞膠管(骨架層為鋼絲或繩纏繞層)、針織膠管(骨架層為針織物)、針織膠管(骨架層為針織物)。短纖維軟管(短纖維與橡膠混合壓製而成)。吸料軟管在負壓下工作,鋼絲編織軟管或纏繞軟管可承受80甚至更高的壓力。
汽車矽膠管生產的基本工藝流程為煉膠加工、帘線(帘線)和帆布加工、膠管成型、硫化等。不同結構和不同骨架的膠管,其骨架層加工方法和膠管成型設備也不同。由於整個軟管不包含骨架層,因此只需使用擠出機擠出軟管即可,而布管則需要使用成型機將膠帶纏繞在內膠層上。吸水軟管成型時,在內膠之前需要纏繞金屬螺旋,編織纏繞軟管需要使用專用的織物編織機或纏繞機,編織軟管需要使用編織機。
