Electric field shielding, magnetic field shielding and electromagnetic shielding

Electromagnetic shielding can be divided into electric field shielding, magnetic field shielding and electromagnetic shielding according to the shielding principle.

1. Electric field shielding is mainly to prevent capacitive coupling between electronic components or equipment, it uses a metal shield to enclose electronic devices or equipment, the shield is made of good conductors and has good grounding, so that the electric field stops on the conductor surface, and through the ground and the induced charge on the conductor surface, so as to prevent mutual interference caused by electrostatic coupling.

2. Magnetic field shielding is to block the internal magnetic field from spreading out or the external magnetic field from interfering in the shielding body by sealing the magnetic field line in the shielding body, so as to provide a low magnetoresistive path for the magnetic field outside the shielding body to shunt the magnetic field. Magnetic field shielding can well suppress the interference between the noise source and the sensitive equipment due to the magnetic field coupling.

3. Electromagnetic shielding is mainly used to prevent electromagnetic induction at high frequencies, using the electromagnetic wave reflection on the conductor surface and the sharp attenuation of the transmission in the conductor to isolate the mutual coupling of the electromagnetic field, so as to prevent the interference of high frequency electromagnetic fields.

At present, researchers have developed different electromagnetic shielding materials according to different electromagnetic shielding principles. Common electromagnetic shielding materials on the market include surface conductive shielding materials, filled composite electromagnetic shielding materials, intrinsic conductive polymers, conductive fabrics, transparent conductive films, etc.

We believe that with the continuous development of science and technology, researchers will develop more and higher performance electromagnetic shielding materials for the benefit of mankind and society.
